The International Historic Motoring Awards hosts auction in support of Sir Jackie Stewart’s Race Against Dementia

Words: Hannah-Maria Ward Photography:

This year, the International Historic Motoring Awards (IHMA) will shine a light beyond the world of classic and historic motoring, and host a silent auction in support of racing legend and three-time Formula 1 World Champion Sir Jackie Stewart OBE’s charity, Race Against Dementia (RAD).

The awards ceremony, on November 14, 2025, is a highlight of the international motoring calendar, bringing together leading figures from across the collector car world to celebrate automotive excellence, innovation and preservation. This year’s event adds a new philanthropic dimension, uniting the classic car community to accelerate progress in the fight against dementia.

Guests attending the evening ceremony will be able to take part in the exclusive silent auction. More details will be announced on the night, but it will feature a selection of curated automotive memorabilia, unique experiences and coveted luxury items. However, for those unable to attend in person, the online auction is live from today, ensuring enthusiasts and supporters worldwide can contribute to and support Sir Jackie Stewart’s charity.

Highlights include a mini helmet signed by Sir Jackie himself, a two-night stay at the five-star Anantara Palazzo Naiadi in Rome, a DTO Motorsport ProDriver experience in a BMW at the iconic Goodwood Motor Circuit, art prints and much more.

Race Against Dementia was founded by Sir Jackie Stewart after his beloved wife, Lady Helen, was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2014. Having met as teenage sweethearts in Helensburgh, Scotland, Lady Helen supported Sir Jackie throughout his racing career – including his tireless campaigning for driver safety in motor sport.

RAD seeks to fund pioneering research and support early-career scientists around the world, to find a breakthrough cure for dementia – a debilitating condition that affects more than 55 million people worldwide.

Earlier this year, the charity announced that it was funding the development of a new blood test trial to detect signs of frontotemporal dementia up to 20 years before the disease can currently be diagnosed. This would make drug trials into dementia research more effective, because they are currently only given to patients who show symptoms of the condition.

If the blood tests work to identify individuals before any symptoms or ultimate diagnosis, it means researchers can trial drugs to see if they reduce a patient’s risk of dementia symptoms. Funds raised by this auction will help support research like this.

Mark Stewart, chair of Race Against Dementia, said: “It means so much to my family and I that Race Against Dementia is being supported by the International Historic Motoring Awards this year. Dementia is a cause that’s deeply personal to us, and seeing the motoring community come together in this way is truly moving. The funds raised at the event and through the auction will directly support pioneering researchers who are bringing the speed, innovation and teamwork of Formula 1 to dementia science. I’m so grateful to everyone involved for helping to keep this race moving forward.”

Geoff Love, managing director of the International Historic Motoring Awards, commented: “The IHMA has always been about celebrating passion, preservation and people. This year, we are proud to extend that spirit in support of Sir Jackie Stewart’s Race Against Dementia. The disease touches so many lives, and through this partnership we hope to make a meaningful difference – combining the energy of the historic motoring world with the urgency of this vital cause in the hope of a cure.”

Supporters can take part in the online auction by registering for the IHMA silent auction here, or else they can donate directly to Race Against Dementia.
