Silverstone Museum

The Silverstone Museum’s groundbreaking exhibition ‘Indy 500 – A British Success Story’ marked a significant international collaboration with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum. Through Rob Jaina’s leadership and DHL’s partnership, four historically significant vehicles were secured, including the first-ever united display of Nigel Mansell’s 1993 IndyCar and his 1992 F1 championship-winning FW14B.
The exhibition showcased Britain’s influence on America’s greatest race through an unprecedented assembly: the innovative 1968 turbine-powered Lotus 56, AJ Foyt’s 1978 Silverstone-winning Coyote, and the unique 1922 Indianapolis Bentley. Enhanced by Andy Brown’s personal memorabilia collection and previously unseen archive material, the exhibition delivered fresh insights into this shared motorsport heritage.
This collaboration between two prestigious motorsport institutions, supported by expert contributors Ian Wagstaff and four-time Indy 500 winner Andy Brown, demonstrated how international partnerships can illuminate automotive history.
